Touchstone Youth Project serves the needs of children in the Oklahoma City Metro at no cost to the participants. The meals, equipment, and supplies necessary, however, to keep this project thriving are not insubstantial. Here are just a few ways your tax-deductible donation can be used to impact the life of a Touchstone Youth:
* Meals – many of the
participants come from low income homes where reliable food on the table is not taken for granted. Touchstone provides each participant with a healthy meal from local food vendors at each session during the school year. Summer participants are given healthy snack options. We aim to provide nutritious food choices and to empower the kids to make sound eating decisions.
* Equipment – ask the Touchstone participants and they’ll tell you how important it is to properly equip yourself for life’s challenges with the right tools. And, they’ll tell you that climbing starts with super sticky rubber climbing shoes. Maintaining a supply of climbing shoes, harnesses and ropes for Touchstone Youth Project is an important part of our existence.
* TouchSTONE Life Skills Curricula – We incorporate the life lessons into small group discussions and one-on-one communication between mentors and participants. That sometimes requires the development of teaching materials, props, or the inclusion of special speakers. We use donations of supplies, time, and money to further this important part of our mission.
* Special Projects – Touchstone has dreams just like the children we serve. We aim to develop outdoor climbing trips as incentive to our participants. We seek to expand our impact in the community by networking and partnering with other organizations to bring even more opportunities to the Touchstone youth. Transportation is a current impediment that we would like to overcome.
